Upgrading BricsCAD

Are you looking to upgrade to the latest release of BricsCAD? If you have a Stand-alone or Volume license of BricsCAD, then follow the steps outlined below.

If you're looking to upgrade a network license, contact us for our guide, as the process for license activation is a little different.

If you are upgrading to the latest version we recommend that you initially leave your current version of BricsCAD installed. The new release of BricsCAD can be installed in parallel to your current version and gives you the option to switch between the two until you're happy that everything in the new version is working well for you.

If you're running 3rd party applications you will need to check with the supplier (or us on the applications we support) to see whether they have updated to support the new release. You can expect the 3rd Party provider to take up to three months to bring out updates following a new BricsCAD release. If your 3rd Party application isn't yet supported then you may want to wait for it to be available before you upgrade BricsCAD for a smooth transition.

Steps to Upgrade BricsCAD to the latest version

1. Download and install the latest version of BricsCAD from the Bricsys website.
2. Log in to your Bricsys account and select Manage licenses.
3. Select the license key you want to use and copy it to the clipboard.
4. Run BricsCAD, and on the launcher pick the Activate license button.
5. In the license manager dialogue box, paste in your license key from the clipboard, then pick the OK button to complete your license activation.
6. When you first run BricsCAD it may prompt you and ask if you want to transfer settings from a previous version. If you're running 3rd party tools or have a customised setup on the previous version, then it is best to pick No. This is because many 3rd party tooling requires specific setup, attempting to run 3rd party tools from an older version can lead to issues.
