I thought Rakesh Rao's post on the new image handling capabilities of Bricscad worthy of a test to see whether the claimed improvements actually stack up.

For the test I created a drawing that contained 110 aerial photos, ranging in size from 4MB - 16MB, and all together totalling over 650MB in size. The test was run on an HP 8540w EliteBook laptop.

The imagery is aerial photography taken of Christchurch, New Zealand. These aerials were taken of the City following the devastating February 2011 earthquake. Events on this scale are difficult for the average person to comprehend, but the Christchurch Quake map helps gives some sense of the quakes magnitude, and impact on the people and buildings of Christchurch.
